Most countries have their own traditional desserts that are associated with their cuisine, some of the various types of dessert from some of the different countries are below;
- Traditional English Desserts - A great example of an English dessert is the trifle which has been a traditional English dessert for many years now and has slight variations that people have made over the years to suit their personal tastes. It is fairly simple to make as well and although the preparation time may not be that long it does need time to set in the fridge. Another English favourite is the crumble coming in numerous varieties from apple to rhubarb, depending on the type of crumble you make it may take a while to prepare because in some cases the fruit will need to be stewed before being added.
- Italian Desserts - One of the most well known desserts to come from Italy is the Tiramisu which has been a popular dessert for the country since the 19th Century. It has a fairly similar preparation process to the trifle in the way that the ingredients are put in layers. Another of their well known desserts is the Pana Cotta which is a creme caramel dessert and can be made fairly easily if you have the right instructions and equipment. These two desserts are very different in the way that the Tiramisu is very rich and the Pana Cotta is very light in taste and texture.
French Desserts - One of the French well known desserts is the Tarte au Citron which is basically a lemon tart. It is fairly simple to make and you just have to make sure the filling is set after baking it and that the pastry is cooked correctly. An even more simple French dessert is the crepes which are very versatile as you can fill them with practically anything you like. The crepes are very much like the English pancakes and can even be had as a savoury dish also.
So as you can see from the variety above there is wide variety between the different countries all offering their own individual style of dessert. Even within the same countries selection you can see there is a type of dessert to suit any style of meal.
